| Ordinary Thunderstorms
William Boyd Bloomsbury 2009 A rollicking good read in the John Buchan tradition. Adam Kindred is an innocent man suspected of murder who goes to ground in central London to evade both the police and the hired killer on his trail. Some of the twists and turns of the plot are pretty far-fetched if you sit back and think about them – indeed the whole story is based on an action monumentally stupid – but as Boyd makes the story so engrossing, you won’t have time to sit back and think about them. The handling of the story and creation of character is masterly. Give up a few days for it. http://www.bookbrowse.com/biographies/index.cfm?author_number=851 13th October 2009 See also: The Blue Afternoon; Restless |
