| Mrs Scrooge
Carol Ann Duffy Picador 2008 I very much enjoyed this little book, a hardback edition of Carol Ann Duffy’s festive poem with illustrations by Posy Simmonds. It’s an updating of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol with a couple of twists: Scrooge is a woman and in these materialistic days frugality is presented as a virtue, not a vice. In the end though, the message is similar: it's human values which count in the end, both at Christmas and throughout the year. Many thanks to Nick, Clare, Martha, Alice, and Julia for such a great gift. 26th December 2009 http://www.carolannduffy.co.uk/ |
